And Tristan Said, “Let There Be Light!”

And there was light….

Shannon and I had seen this cool lighting idea in one of our favorite places, so we decided to do it at home!

It started with the search for all of the parts, see the posts below for a little insight into that fiasco.  We assembled everything we needed from from around town which included raw material wrapped electrical wire, edison bulbs (the kind where you can see the ornate filaments), mason jars, lighting plate, hooks, lamp switches, and electrical supplies.  Once we had gathered all of the materials together we sat down and created lamps.  We wired and built the light switches, cut the lids of the jars, installed the hooks in the ceiling, removed all of the old lighting, drilled new holes in the light plate… and the list goes on.  See the mess below.

Starting to Take Shape!

Then it was time to start fretting over if I was capable to actually do the wiring myself.  We were both convinced that I was going to end up fried, and were about to call in some help when I was able to get a hold of our friend Willow who walked me through the steps ahead of time.  Therefore: Survival.  After a couple of lessons learned about really planning things out ahead of the project, it truly started to come together.  Although the finished project is pretty simple it really turned our kitchen into a warmer and funkier place.  Here is the end result:

Power is working! Must have connect the right strings...
